A method for compensating brightness of a plasma display panel is provided to correct the brightness of an image signal by controlling an R/G/ GAIN value according to a measured brightness value. A brightness measurement process is performed to measure brightness of a plasma display panel(S110). The measured brightness value is compared with the reference brightness value in order to control an R/G/ GAIN value according to a difference between the measured brightness value and the reference brightness value(S150,S160). The R/G/ GAIN value is maintained when the present measured brightness value is less than a setting level of the prior measured brightness value(S140). The reference brightness value is divided into a plurality of reference brightness values in order to control the R/G/ GAIN value according to each of the reference brightness values. |
