A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent a strong discharge due to a high voltage applied during an erroneous discharge erasing period by adjusting a voltage difference between X and Y electrodes. A plasma display apparatus includes plural first and second electrodes, and plural discharge cells at sections defined by the first and second electrodes. The temperature of the plasma display apparatus is detected. The plural discharge cells are initialized during a reset period. The voltage of the first electrodes(Y) is gradually decreased from a first voltage(VscH) to a second voltage(Vnf). The first voltage is adjusted based on the temperature of the plasma display apparatus. |
