PROVIDING ROAD INFORMATION INCLUDING VERTEX DATA FOR A LINK AND USING THE SAME

Provision of road information including vertex data for a link and usage of the same are provided to allow a traffic information receiving terminal to search a corresponding road section on electronic map when traffic information about each road link is provided. A processor receives link vertex information including a first identifier and vertex components each revealing a position along a link, and then identifies vertex components within the link vertex information. The reception of the link vertex information includes receiving an indicator of a number of vertex components which are specified by the link vertex information, in which the number of vertex components included in the link vertex information corresponds to the number of vertex components indicated by the indicator. The received indicator specifies the link vertex information to include only one vertex, and the identified vertex component consists of a single vertex component which reveals a single position along the link other than a start point and end point.
