A method for extracting feature points of an image is provided to simultaneously create 6 sample images with a single input image and remarkably shorten the operation time required to extract feature points by using a wavelet pyramid composed of 6 wavelet transforms connected through threads. If an image is inputted through a CCD(Charge-Coupled Device) camera and an IR LED module from the external(S100), a microcomputer simultaneously create a plurality of sample images from the inputted image using a wavelet pyramid composed of a plurality of wavelet transforms connected through threads(S110). The microcomputer creates the subtraction images between neighbor sample images at the same time(S120). Then the microcomputer extracts feature points in the created subtraction images(S130).
