The method involves transmitting a network status request signal from a mesh point (MP) to another MP, where the later MP responds to the former MP with the network status information. The information is received by the former MP from the later MP. A level of involvement in the wireless communication system is determined based on the received information. The status information includes an availability of other MPs in the system, availability of an external network, average and peak delays in the system, bandwidth availability, and the number of other MPs in the system. |
