The double disc rotor for a gas turbine engine has a spacer (36) mounted between the discs (31,32) and fixed to the rotor without bolting flanges. It has centering facets (41) for axial engagement on its exterior radial surface. The spacer has an exterior skin layer (37) forming a seal and stiffening tongues. The tongues and the skin layer define ventilation passages.
