<p>In a control apparatus for a vehicular automatic transmission and a method o f controlling a vehicular automatic transmission, a brake operation amount by which the brake of a vehicle is operated is detected, and a neutral control is execute d to decrease an engagement pressure for a friction engagement element of the automatic transmission, when a shift lever is in a forward gear position, an accelerator pedal is not operated, the brake is operated, and the vehicle is stopped. The engagement pressure for the fricti on engagement element is increased when the detected brake operation amount decreases duri ng the neutral control.</p> |
