METHOD FOR ACQUIRING THE INFORMATION OF OTHER TYPE NETWORK FOR HANDOVER

An information acquisition method for handover between heterogeneous networks is provided to enable a multimode terminal to inquire of an information server through a base station to receive information on a network before accessing the broadband wireless access network, or to inquire about performance of entities supportable by MIH(Media Independent Handover), thereby determining whether to access the access network. MIH performance of a base station is searched(S601). Based on the searched MIH performance of the base station, information is demanded to an information server through the base station while a ranging procedure with the base station is carried out(S602-S609). The information obtained from the information server through the base station is received(S610). When the MIH performance of the base station is searched, information on support for an MIH function and information on a supportable MIH service type are received from the base station.
