<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active tag system effectively performing access management or the like and having an interrogator that can be easily installed at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The active tag system includes: an interrogator 1 comprising a question sending part 11 for sending question signals wirelessly and a response receiving part 14 for receiving response signals sent back from a responder 2; and a responder 2 comprising a question receiving part 21 for receiving the question signals, a response sending part 24 having individual ID information for wirelessly sending back the response signals including its own ID information upon receiving the question signals, and a battery 28 for supplying operating power to the responder 2. The interrogator 1 is fixed so that the central axis 41 of a transmitting loop antenna 12 has an angle to a horizontal or vertical direction.
