<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothbrush which can be manufactured by simple procedures having a small number of movable portions. <P>SOLUTION: When a shaft 918 continues rotating, a cam 914 is separated from a cam driven portion 922. An elastic biasing member such as a spring 934 which is located between a head portion 816 and the second surface of the cam driven portion pushes the cam driven portion 922, and pushes the second bristle holder 910 to return it in the direction of the longitudinal axis 818 of the head portion 816. The repeated longitudinal or horizontal motions (continuous rotations of the shaft 918) provide complementary sweeping or brushing motions instead of the motions provided by the first bristle holder 814. The number of strokes (longitudinal reciprocating motion) and/or the frequency of the second bristle holder 910 can be changed by varying the position and/or the size of the cam 914 and the cam driven portion 922. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
