A device and process for extracting plastic preforms ( 5 ) from holders. Said device comprises a plate ( 23 ), which features straight slits ( 26 ) positioned parallel to each other, that is attached to a supporting table ( 20, 21 ). Each slit ( 26 ) comprises wider sections and constrictions ( 29, 30 ), which have a width (L 2 ) smaller than the diameter of the ring ( 9 ) of the preform, so that the ring ( 9 ) can be fitted into the slit ( 26 ) through the wider section. The plate (23) is moved in the direction <<D>> by a specific length until the constrictions are positioned under the ring, and, thus, the preforms are removed by moving the plate away from the holders.
