The current limiter has a gradient control, which limits current fed from the fuel cell into an electrical network based on connection of a load on a preset value for intensity of current that rises up to a maximum value at a specific time. The control comprises different temporal processes for intensity of current, which are assigned to different types of fuel cells and/or conditions or characteristics of fuel cell. A hardware and software required for the control is integrated in a direct current/direct current-converter and/or in multiple high power loads.
