A method and an apparatus for balancing a current in a battery are provided to prevent a battery cell from being degraded and fully charge plural battery cells in the battery by performing a balancing of the current for operating a circuit. A battery device includes plural cell stacks having at least one cell. The cell stacks are connected to each other. An apparatus for balancing a current in the battery device includes a comparator and a current source. The comparator compares an output voltage from a specific cell stack with a voltage for a circuit which is connected to the corresponding cell stack. The current source adds or subtracts a dummy current to or from a current operation current corresponding to an output from the comparator. An adder adds a predetermined offset voltage to the output from the comparator and supplies the result to the current source.
