PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitor of which characteristic values can be seen even from its upper face side, and which can suppress the manufacturing cost for indicating the characteristic values on the upper face of a case. SOLUTION: In the electrolytic capacitor 1, an electrolytic capacitor element is housed in a case 11, and four explosion-proof valves 18a-18d which are formed of linear first and second explosion-proof grooves 16 and 17 crossing at the center of its upper face 11a are provided on the upper face 11a of the case 11. In addition, a first groove 19 indicating the upper-limit voltage that can be continuously applied to the electrolytic capacitor 1 is formed in a manner to cross at right angle only the first line segment 16a of the first explosion-proof groove 16 between the one end and the center 15 of the first explosion-proof groove 16. Furthermore, a second groove 20 indictating the electrostatic capacity value of the electrolytic capacitor 1 is formed in a manner to cross at right angle the third line segment 17a of the second explosion-proof groove 17 between the one end and the center 15 of the second explosion-proof groove 17.
