PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo writing method which can effectively shorten writing time when writing servo information on a disk medium by using self servo writing method and can improve efficiency of servo writing process. SOLUTION: The servo writing method has a first process for recording a base servo pattern including address codes and servo burst signals in a track pitch unit for a self servo writing method, and a second process for recording servo pattern for driving which is a spiral servo pattern on the disk medium by using the base servo pattern according to the self servo writing function of the disk drive.
