PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a crane main body by simplifying a device configuration for climbing, eliminate the necessity of reinforcement of a building supporting the crane main body and perform climbing work with high efficiency. SOLUTION: This climbing crane is provided with the crane main body 4 having a crane 2 at a tip part of a mast 1 and a main body support pedestal 3 at the lower end of the mast 1; an upper pedestal 6 repositionable along the mast 1; a guide mast 8 repositionable along the mast 1; and a lifting/lowering cylinder connecting the upper pedestal 6 with the guide mast 8. Expansion/contraction mechanisms 20a, 20b expanded/contracted outwardly in the horizontal direction are provided in each of the main body support pedestal 3 and the upper pedestal 6, and gravity placement parts for applying gravity acting on the crane main body 4 to beams of the building are provided in the expansion/contraction mechanisms 20a, 20b. At tips of the expansion/contraction mechanisms 20a, 20b, reaction force receiving parts 27 pressed against pillars of the building to apply a moment acting on the crane main body 4 to the pillars.
