PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire for removing an intravascular foreign matter and a medical instrument for reliably trapping an intravascular foreign matter by reliably securing a foreign matter catching space even when an external force is applied such as being pressed by an inner wall of a blood vessel. SOLUTION: The wire 1B for removing an intravascular foreign matter includes a long main body 2 of the wire having flexibility, two branched wire parts 4a, 4b branched off from the distal end of the main body 2 of the wire, and three filament parts 51-53 laid between the branched wire parts 4a, 4b, and the foreign matter trapping space 31 for trapping the intravascular foreign matter is formed by the branched wire parts 4a, 4b and the filament parts 51-53. The wire 1B has curved parts 46B formed by steeply curving a part of each branched wire part 4a, 4b and a part of the respective filament parts 51-53 in the neighborhood of a boundary part 47 between each of branched wire parts 4a, 4b and each of the filament parts 51-53.
