Rubber modified asphalts and their methods of manufacture. One or more su lfonic acids is/are added to a mixture of asphalt and rubber particles, or t o an existing rubber modified asphalt composition. Heat and/or mixing may be applied during or after addition of the sulfonic acid(s).
