PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with a conventional manual work for detecting a contact failure point by an operator, and to measure automatically the contact failure point even in day-and-night unmanned operation, concerning a contact testing device and a contact test method for testing automatically a contact failure between a test head and a socket board, or between the socket board and a measuring object substrate. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a check terminal mounted on the socket board, and connected to each terminal of a socket into which a pin of the substrate is inserted; a variable terminal part connected to a prescribed terminal of the test head on the socket board, and contactable with any check terminal by being moved; a means for moving the variable terminal part to the check terminal which is a contact failure object to be brought into contact therewith, when a contact failure of a pin is detected during an electric test; and a means for performing a conduction test between the test head and the socket board in the contacted state.
