PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling method of a hot-rolled steel strip, which can perform uniform cooling from the tip to the tail end of a hot-rolled steel strip when cooling the hot-rolled steel strip, transferred on a runout table, with cooling water. SOLUTION: Cooling of the lower face of the steel strip 10 is started prior to cooling of the upper face so as to generate a temperature difference of more than 20°C between the upper face and the lower face of the steel strip 10.
