PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas storage material of an enhanced gas storage capacity which secures a sufficient quantity of voids by releasing monolayer carbon nanotubes from their close adhesion by decoupling and dispersing bundles of the carbon nanotubes to reduce the bundle size. SOLUTION: The gas storage material comprised of monolayer carbon nanotubes forming a bundle structure is characterized in that the number of the monolayer carbon nanotubes constituting individual bundles is not more than 10 in average.
