<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lowering of sealability of the joint of the hollow seal part of a weather strip and to improve the appearance of the joint by preventing the occurrence of a level difference or a burr in the joint. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for producing the weather strip, when the ends of weather strip element 13 are joined together by heat fusion, a negative pressure is generated between the outer surface of the weather strip element 13 and the holding surfaces 38 and 39 of a holding mold 27, the outer surface of the weather strip element 13 (the outer surfaces of the hollow seal part 16 etc.) is attracted to the holding surfaces 38 and 39 by the negative pressure to be kept approximately in the same shape as that of the holding surfaces 38 and 39, and a positive pressure is generated in the hollow part of the hollow seal part 16. While the outer surface of the hollow seal part 16 is pressed to the holding surfaces 38 and 39 by the positive pressure to be kept approximately in the same shape as that of the holding surfaces 38 and 39, the end surfaces of the weather strip element 13 are joined together by heat fusion.
