MESSAGE CONVERSION DEVICE FOR USE IN COMPUTER SYSTEM INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time required for an operation manager in the integrated management environment of a plurality of computers to take a first step against trouble by making it possible to convert the format or words of various messages collected from the computers to be monitored and to change the severity of each message according to an operating environment so that the operation manager converts each message into one easy to understand. SOLUTION: For a conventional integrated management tool, rules for converting the format or words of messages are defined and stored in a message conversion rule storage means. The messages stored in a message database are taken out and the message conversion rule storage means is searched for the message conversion rules applicable to the messages taken out. The messages obtained are subjected to message conversion based on the message conversion rules found. The conversion results are stored in the message database.
