PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely suppress the irregular winding of a rope on a drum irrespective of the derricking angle of a jib to the ground. SOLUTION: This crane comprises a rope retaining and moving device 22 for moving the position of a rope retainer 20 relative to the drum 17 following the change of the winding position of a wire rope 13 when the winding position of the wire rope 13 relative to the drum 17 is changed by the derricking operation of the jib 9. The winding position of the wire rope 13 relative to the drum 17 can always be aligned with the position of the rope retainer 20 irrespective of the derricking angle of the jib 9 to the ground. Consequently, the irregular winding of the wire rope 13 on the drum 17 can be surely suppressed since the rope retainer 20 can always press the wire rope 13 on the drum 17 (drum part 17A) at the winding position of the wire rope 13 relative to the drum 17.
