An apparatus for detecting misassembled head-bolts in an automatic engine assembly is provided to prevent the misassembled head-bolts from proceeding to the next process by stopping a conveyor carrying the head-bolts when the misassembled head-bolt makes contact with a sensing bar, thereby avoiding equipment failure. In an apparatus for misassembled head-bolts in an automatic engine assembly which assembles a cylinder head carried by a conveyor(110) to a cylinder block with a head-bolt inserted, the apparatus comprises a fixed bar(120), a limit switch(130), a sensing bar(140), and a control unit(150). The fixed bar is secured on one side of the conveyor. The limit switch is mounted on an upper side of the fixed bar. The sensing bar across the conveyor, perpendicular to the moving direction of the conveyor, is disposed a little bit higher than normally-assembled head-bolts that are assembled to the cylinder blocks moving along the conveyor, and is connected to the limit switch. The control unit, in electric connection with the limit switch, controls the operation of the conveyor by stopping the conveyor when the head-bolt(31) within the cylinder block(10) moving along the conveyor makes contact with the sensing bar. The control unit includes an alarm unit(160) which activates an alarm lamp or makes alarm sounds as soon as the conveyor stops.
