PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass vessel for lighting, which can eliminate the need to form a protective film, excels in workability, and can obtain a high-luminance fluorescent lamp; and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: This glass vessel for lighting is characterized in that the ratio Ra/Rb of the proportion Ra of Na present on the inner surface of the glass vessel to the proportion Rb of Na present in a part of 100 nm depth from the inner surface is not more than 1. This method for manufacturing a glass vessel for lighting is characterized by washing a glass tube with pure water or an aqueous solution, having a Na+content not more than 10 ppm.
