A structure of cooling an upper portion of a cylinder block for an engine is provided to prevent thermal deformation of a cylinder block, a cylinder liner and a piston by performing concentrated cooling operation on the upper portion of the cylinder block by coolant. A structure of cooling an upper portion of a cylinder block for an engine, includes a cylinder block, cylinders, a cylinder liner(20), and a main cooling channel. The cylinders are arranged on the cylinder block so as to perform reciprocation of a piston. The cylinder liner is arranged on an inner surface of the cylinder. The main cooling channel includes an inlet portion(23a) and an outlet portion formed on an upper outer surface of the cylinder liner so as to introduce and discharge coolant. The main cooling channel includes a coolant channel(21) formed on the upper outer surface of the cylinder liner and communicated to the inlet portion and the outlet portion.
