APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTING AUTO WHITE BALANCE

An apparatus and a method for adjusting AWB(Auto White Balance) are provided to obtain optimized AWB performance according to an image capture area and time. A communicating unit, which includes a signal transmitting unit(205) and a signal transmitting unit(210), transmits a signal to a GPS(100) and receives location information of a digital image processing device(200). A storage unit(220) stores color adjustment gain values according to the location information and time information of the digital image processing device(200). A controller(245) provides control to search a color adjustment gain value corresponding to the time information and the location information from the storage unit(220) and change AWB of an inputted image. An AWB processing unit(235) adjusts a color gain value of the image inputted to the digital image processing device(200) with the color adjustment gain value stored in the storage unit(220) and outputs it as a signal that can be displayed.
