<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element the view angle dependence of whose phase difference can be controlled without depending on only the selection of materials, so that the heat resistance of the optical element whose phase difference has the desired view angle dependence can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element 100 in which a polymerizable liquid crystal monomer is hybrid-oriented, is composed of a first polymerizable liquid crystal monomer M1 oriented while keeping a fixed angle with respect to the oriented surface and a second polymerizable liquid crystal monomer M2 hybrid-oriented with respect to the oriented surface, so that the view angle dependence of the phase difference of the optical element is controlled by the content ratio of the first polymerizable liquid crystal monomer M1 to the second polymerizable liquid crystal monomer M2. The optical element is manufactured by layering a first layer 101 formed by using the first polymerizable liquid crystal monomer M1 on an oriented film and a second layer 102 formed by using the second polymerizable liquid crystal monomer M2 on the first layer 101, so that the view angle dependence of the phase difference of the optical element is controlled by the content ratio of the first polymerizable liquid crystal monomer to the second polymerizable liquid crystal monomer in two layers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
