PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record continuous recording signals onto free areas scattered over a disk by preventing overflow of a track buffer. SOLUTION: A system controller 9 detects the free areas having capacity of "C/B>T" or more as the free areas where continuous recording information can be recorded and reproduced and selectively records and reproduces the recording information onto the free areas, wherein "B" is the transfer rate of the recording information recorded in the track buffer; "C" is the capacity of the track buffer; and "T" is the period required to seek recording areas.
