PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collision absorbing device with superior mounting efficiency to a vehicle capable of freely coping with predicted collision energy in collision of the vehicle. SOLUTION: This crash box comprises a metallic crash box body 10, and a metallic hollow pipe whose cross section is formed into a rectangular shape. A central flat plate part 11, a planar front side wall 13, and a planar rear side wall 15 of the crash box 10 are parallely arranged. A first side wall 12 and a second side wall 14 swollen outward respectively are integrally connected between both ends of the front side wall 13 and the central flat plate 11 and between the central flat plate 11 and both ends of the rear side wall 15, and its entire shape is formed into a hollow-pipe shape having an approximate 8-like cross section.
