The method involves testing a sensor in a specific operating mode for error diagnosis (S10), in which a part of the sensor specification is tested. An error diagnosis signal is generated as a result of the error diagnosis, and the signal of the sensor is corrected with a default value strategy (S20), if the error diagnosis signal confirms to an error of the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a device for error diagnosis and error correction of sensor of safety critical system of vehicle.
