<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress pixel values of respective pixels independently of adjacent pixels without using differences in pixel values between adjacent pixels when a decoded image of a digital moving picture compressed stream is stored in a frame memory, and to expand the compressed data independently of adjacent pixels. <P>SOLUTION: A writing unit 21 finds mean values of pixel values of pixels included in respective blocks, block by block. An information compression unit 22 finds differences between the mean values and pixel values, cuts multiple low-order bits of the difference values to generate the compressed data consisting of bits less than the original pixel values, and stores the compressed data in frame memories 24a to 24d. An information expanding unit 25 adds mean values, used to generate compressed data read out of the frame memories 24a to 24d, to the compressed data to reproduce pixel values of respective pixels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
