PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manufacture a high-quality piezoelectric vibrator by generating an arc discharge only between a plasma arc electrode and an inner lead. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a cylinder package type piezoelectric vibrator includes: a setting stage of setting a piezoelectric vibration chip 2 and a plug 4 in a vibration chip holder and an airtight terminal holder, respectively; an adjusting stage of making adjustments so that the inner lead 26a is disposed on a mount electrode 16; a contact stage of bringing the inner lead into contact with the mount electrode by pressing an outer lead 26b with a pressing tool 35; a torch electrode setting stage of setting a torch electrode 38 so that the angle of an axis of the plasma arc electrode 37 to a horizontal plane is 70 to 90°; a joining stage of joining the inner lead and mount electrode together by the arc discharge by applying a voltage between the plasma arc electrode and inner lead; and a sealing stage of sealing a case and a stem 27.
