PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor capable of ensuring a sufficient quantity of lubrication oil irrespective of a plate thickness of a closed container. SOLUTION: In the hermetic compressor 1, in which a compression mechanism 4 for compressing work fluid and an electric motor for driving the compression mechanism 4 are received inside the closed container 2 and discharge pressure by the compression mechanism 4 fills in the closed container 2, the closed container is formed of a cylindrical body 2a receiving the compression mechanism 4 and the electric motor 6 with axes directed in a vertical direction, an upper lid 2 closing an upper part of the body 2a and a lower lid 2c closing a lower part of the body 2a and storing the lubrication oil and has a structure that the lower lid 2c is attached to the body 2a by fitting an inner peripheral surface of eh lower lid 2c onto an outer peripheral surface of the body 2a.
