PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting or treating non-A non-B hepatitis C virus. SOLUTION: An anti-hepatitis C virus(HCV) monoclonal antibody immunologically bindable to a polypeptide having a specific sequence of at least 8 consecutive amino acids is provided. The above sequence is obtained from a polypeptide comprising a specific amino acid sequence isolated from HCV genome. Further, a vaccine composition containing, in a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient, a polypeptide having a sequence comprising the above-mentioned specific sequence of at least 8 consecutive amino acids is provided.
