DETECTOR OF OBJECTS BY ANALYZING MICROWAVE ECHOES IN A VARIABLE CHAOS ENCLOSURE

The field of the invention is that of devices for detecting non-metallic objects concealed on human subjects. The device for detecting dielectric objects according to the invention comprises at least one detector comprising an enclosure (10) in which are arranged an emitter (14) emitting a microwave signal and a microwave receiver (15), said enclosure: comprises a measurement surface (11) comprising at least two holes (12); is strongly reflecting to the wave emitted by the emitter; has a volume greater than about the cube of the wavelength so that the possible number of resonance modes inside the enclosure is greater than about a thousand; has a geometry of chaotic type for said modes; comprises at least one device (13) termed a mode mixer devised so as to modify in a variable manner during the time of a measurement the characteristics of the enclosure so as to explore a significant fraction of said modes. A processing device linked to this detector makes it possible to correlate the measured signals with pre-recorded signals so as to determine the presence of suspicious objects.
