A novel bis(carboxyphenyl quinoxalinyl)benzene compound is provided to easily obtain a phenylquinoxaline-benzimidazole copolymer film showing significantly excellent proton conductivity at a temperature of more than 100 deg.C and also improve the cell efficiency by comprising the obtained film as a proton selective membrane. A bis(carboxyphenyl quinoxalinyl)benzene compound is represented by the formula(1) and is prepared by subjecting a compound represented by the formula(2) and a compound represented by the formula(3) to a condensation reaction. In the formulae, R is H, C1-20 alkyl which may be substituted or non-substituted and include a hetero atom, or C5-30 aryl which may be substituted or non-substituted and include a hetero atom; R' is halogen, hydroxy, C1-20 alkyl which may be substituted or non-substituted and include a hetero atom, or C5-30 aryl which may be substituted or non-substituted and include a hetero atom; p is an integer from 0 to 3; q is an integer from 0 to 4; and r is an integer from 0 to 5. A copolymer is prepared by condensation-polymerizing the bis(carboxyphenyl quinoxalinyl)benzene compound with a co-monomer including an aromatic compound having at least two adjacent amino groups. A film comprises the copolymer. A fuel cell comprises the acid-doped film as a proton selective membrane.
