A heating cooker is provided to conduct heat uniformly to a metal plate from a heating unit heating water stored in a steam generating unit and to prolong a service life of a safety sensor by installing the safety sensor at an outer portion of the metal plate and detecting an overheat of the heating unit correctly. A heating cooker comprises a housing, a cooking room formed in the housing, and a steam generating unit supplying steam into the cooking room. The steam generating unit comprises a case containing a water supply pipe and a steam discharge hole, a metal plate(51) connected to a lower part of the case, and a heating unit(52) connected to a lower part of the metal plate, to generate heat. An opposite surface of the metal plate from a surface where the heating unit is attached is coated with an anti-adhesion paint(54) to conduct heat from the heating unit uniformly to a middle portion(A) and an outer portion(B). The heating unit is a surface type heating element comprising an insulation paint(52a) coated on a lower part of the metal plate, to protect flowing of electricity to the metal plate, a conductive paint(52b) coated under the insulation paint, and an unconductive paint(52c) coated among the conductive paint.
