摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the arithmetic processing amount, in calculating bit-soft determination likelihood. <P>SOLUTION: A maximum likelihood symbol is detected with the Euclidian distance, between an estimation symbol and a reception symbol of a reception signal, as a determination index. For each bit value of the maximum likelihood symbol, a retrieval completion flag is written in a retrieval situation memory 1-47, and the determination index is written in a bit likelihood memory 1-48. Counter symbol candidates are then selected from among estimation symbols other than the maximum likelihood symbol in the order starting from the smallest determination index, and bit values are investigated. With respect to conflicting bit values, the retrieval completion flag is written in the retrieval situation memory 1-47, and the determination index is written in the bit likelihood memory 1-48. By referring to the retrieval situation memory 1-47, it is investigated whether all bit values have been completely retrieved; and when all the bit values have been retrieved completely, processing is finished.
