PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article storage facility, maintaining high cleanliness of an article in a storage part. SOLUTION: The article storage facility comprises: article storage racks 3 each having a plurality of storage parts 2 arranged vertically and horizontally; an article carrying apparatus 5 moving in a moving space 4 in front of the article storage racks 3 to take out and put the article from/in the storage part 2; downflow type cleaning air ventilating means 6 making cleaning air pass from rear sides of the article storage racks 3 through the storage parts 2 to flow the cleaning air from an upper side to a lower side in the moving space 4; and a control means controlling operation of the article carrying apparatus 5. The storage part 2 can store article holding bodies 13A with articles 12 held and article holding bodies 13B with no articles 12 held. The control means controls the operation of the article carrying apparatus 5 to store the article holding bodies 13 into the housing part 2 so that the article holding bodies with articles held are stored above the article holding bodies 13B with no articles held.
