GLASS WITH SCRATCH-RESISTANT COATING

Glass having a diamond- like carbon (DLC) coating on top of an intermediate bonding layer of tin oxide directly obtained from the float process, and a method for producing same. A glow- discharge method is used to apply the DLC coating. The glass may be chemically strengthened prior to applying the DLC coating. The DLC coating may be deposited on at least two substrates at the same time, using several metallic holders during the glow-discharge process.
