PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant crash protection device capable of suppressing upward bounce of an occupant or article on a vehicular seat. SOLUTION: An airbag device 20 comprises a collision detection sensor 23 for detecting a collision of a vehicle, a contact sensor 24 for determining whether or not an occupant uses seat belts, and an ECU 25 for controlling the inflation of an airbag. When the collision detection sensor 23 detects the collision of the vehicle, it outputs a collision signal to the ECU 25. When the contact sensor 24 detects that an occupant uses seat belts, it outputs a contact signal to the ECU 25. When the ECU 25 receives the collision signal, it performs the seating determination for determining whether or not the contact signal is received. If the result of determination is affirmative, the ECU 25 outputs a control signal for operating an inflator.
