PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which has sufficient fracture resistance and an excellent low exothermic property and can impart sufficient fracture resistance to tire and highly improve the low fuel cost property of the tire, when used for the tire. SOLUTION: This rubber composition comprises a modified natural rubber containing polar groups in the natural rubber molecule, and carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N<SB>2</SB>SA) of 20 to 170 m<SP>2</SP>/g and satisfying a relation of an expression: [thermal loss (mass%) in a range of 200 to 400°C]/N<SB>2</SB>SA≥0.0025 (I).
