PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new industrially useful trifluoroethylated phenylalanine derivative. SOLUTION: The newα-trifluoroethylated phenylalanine derivative is prepared as follows. A new fluorine-containing amino acid derivative represented by formula (5) is synthesized and asymmetric alkylation is carried out in the presence of a spiro type chiral phase transfer catalyst.
