The method involves bringing printing units (05, 06) into a functional position in an alternative manner, and implementing sheet change for successive printing of partial impression. The production-printing speed of a rotary printing press (03) is controlled based on the height of the partial impression that is provided in the printing and overall changing speed that is required for sheet change. The actual production printing speed is reduced to maximum production printing speed based on the print impression and the changing speed.
