The invention involves a patient information hub (PIH) system (100) used in a healthcare system (400) for the management of data documents of a patient (1) having an implanted medical device (IMD) (200). The PIH system (100) comprises, in addition to the IMD (200), a portable non-implanted unit (300) having capability for communicating with the IMD (100). The PIH system (100) stores and manages a document list containing information of data documents of the patient (1) and information of in which data depositories (12, 22, 42) of the healthcare system (400) the documents are stored and can be retrieved from. The retrieval of the document list from the PIH system (100) for display on a screen (345) of the communicating unit or transmission to an external requesting unit (14) is made dependent on a communication operation involving the IMD (200) and the non-implanted unit (300).
