An EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) system and a distributed message storing method thereof are provided to store e-mails concentrated on a predetermined time slot efficiently, and distribute/store a message storage of a receiver to storage devices connected to the network to process a bulk e-mail received from a plurality of senders efficiently and concentrated on the predetermined time slot. An EDI system includes mail databases(235-1~235-k), a basic information database(230), and MTAs(Mail Transfer Agent)(225-1~225-m). The MTA stores mail data received from MUAs(Mail User Agent)(205-1~205-n) by selecting the mail database having the smallest storage load among the main database and generates/stores basic message information corresponding to the stored mail data to the basic information database when a mail reception request is received from the MUA. The basic message information includes an ID of the selected mail database, location information storing the mail data, and size information of the mail database. The MTA selects the mail database having the smallest storage load after calculating the storage load of each mail database by recognizing the number of writing and reading processes of each mail database. |
