A method for controlling data broadcasting application and a broadcasting receiver for storing the same are provided to expand hardware without additional costs by using a compression storage system when storing the data broadcasting applications in a memory. A tuner(102) receives and tunes data broadcasting signals including applications supported by a data broadcasting platform. A data decoder(107) decodes the data broadcasting signals. A storage(120) stores the applications decoded by the data decoder. A controller(110) controls a storage system of the storage by a signal for selecting a storage system of the storage, and controls execution of the application.
