<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that excels in space use efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The opened face of a resin frame 57 that has a container form is closed with a sheet metal frame 59 that has a lid form. This makes is possible to increase the cross-sectional area of each of side walls 56 by an accommodating recess 60 surrounded by the resin frame 57 and the sheet metal frame, and hence improves the strength of the side walls 56. Further, the accommodating recess 60 accommodates a drive mechanism 108 and circuit substrate 111 composing the laser printer 1. This improves efficiency in using the space of the laser printer 1. Because of the effective use of the space in the main body casing 2, the laser printer 1 can be made compact in terms of the same cross-sectional area in comparison with, for example, the case that the cross-sectional areas of the side walls 56 are increased due to ribs. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
